For years, my career as a Golf Course Superintendent was defined by precision and control. I originally started meditating just to manage the stress of the job, but it eventually evolved into something much deeper. Now, that practice is the heartbeat of my art.
I don’t start a painting with a plan. Instead, I spend my time outdoors and bring that inspiration back to the canvas through a free-flowing, intuitive process. Using color theory and composition, I spread layers of oil paint, reflect on them, and then scrape them away. My work is influenced by the depth of Gerhard Richter and the patterns of Yayoi Kusama, and I’ve been fortunate to have the artist Tim Packer as my coach to help me refine my vision.
My favorite part of this process is the mystery. I love stepping back from a finished piece and wondering, "Where in the world did that come from?" I truly hope my paintings bring you that same sense of wonder and inspiration.
