Sean Collins is a self-taught abstract oil painter who has called the Sarasota/Bradenton area of Florida home for over twenty years. His practice is defined by a free-flowing, intuitive process that prioritizes discovery over a predetermined outcome.

Rather than following a rigid plan, Collins allows a deep understanding of color theory and composition to guide the initial layers of paint across the canvas. His work is a rhythmic cycle of action and reflection; he meticulously adds and scrapes away at the oil, building texture and depth until the piece reaches a final, balanced harmony.
